Jan Kirwan and Jenette Holloway lived in New York City and spent the weekends at their home on the North Fork. Jenette had arrived from England about 18 years before with only a few hundred dollars and no employment. They both shared a dream – to own a tea shop.
In 2004 they seized the opportunity to buy the Greenport Tea Company

has been widely praised for its unique menu, specializing in High Tea and Lunch fare (nothing is fried) with daily specials. High Tea for 2 consists of delectable scones with jam and cream, assorted tea sandwiches, mini pastries and fresh fruit with cream – all beautifully presented on a three- tiered stand with your choice of hot tea or iced tea. Lunch specials change daily – some customer favorites include warming bowls of homemade Butternut Squash, Cheddar and Ale or Shrimp and Corn Chowder. Chicken Salad with Cashews and grilled Chicken, Pears and Warm Brie with our special recipe honey mustard vinaigrette keep a loyal following. And the hugely popular Special Salad made of fresh romaine, crumbled gorgonzola, walnuts, cranberries with grilled chicken or shrimp and a raspberry vinaigrette dressing are always a tea shop favorite.
